Antabax Celebrates the Power Of Malaysia Through Graffiti Battle At National Art Gallery, Malaysia!

Antabax, Malaysia’s number 1 Halal antibacterial personal care range, celebrated the power of Malaysia through a live graffiti battle with 14 of the country’s best graffiti artists and their crews spraying their way to RM20,000 in cash at the National Art Gallery, here, today.

The live graffiti battle was the culmination of the month long Antabax Graffiti Competition 2017 that was held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of independence. With the theme of POWER Malaysia, graffiti artists from across the nation were challenged to interpret the dynamic spirit and uniqueness of the country. A great programme to support the local graffiti talents!

The competition received hundreds of online entries that were then whittled down to 55 before the final 14 artists and crews, to represent the 14 Malaysian states, were shortlisted by a panel of judges from the National Art Gallery, graffiti artists and representatives from Antabax.

The prize money of RM20,000 cash is believed to be among the largest offered for a graffiti competition in the country. The finalists had 3.5 hours to fill a 2.4m by 2.4m panel with their vision of Malaysian POWER, using spray paint as the main medium.

The Antabax live graffiti battle was won by Mohd Zulfadli Bin Ahmad Nawawi, also known as Akid1, received RM7,500 in cash; second place went to the Mohd Zaki Bin Nordin also known as Escapeva, who received RM4,500; while the 3 Serangkai crew, of Katun and Siek, came third winning RM2,500, in a close fought competition. Eleven consolation winners received RM500 each. All finalists also received Antabax hampers, and spray paint worth RM200, each.

The live graffiti battle was judged by National Art Gallery, Chief Curator, En Majidi Amir and Senior Curator, En Bakhtiar Naim Jaafar; Lam Soon Edible Oils Senior Product Manager, Household & Personal Care, Ms Mandy Lee and internationally renowned Malaysian graffiti artists, Bee and Bone Alfie.

A graffiti clinic for those aged between eight to 18 years was conducted by Bee and graffiti artists from District Gallery, to inspire the next generation of graffiti artist by introducing them to correct can-handling, basic techniques, safety procedures and hygiene. An awesome early exposure for the kids!

Antabax is a proudly Malaysian personal care brand that is recognized for its 24-hours antibacterial protection.  It was named the fastest growing Malaysian brand in the antibacterial personal care category[1] and all of its products are certified Halal.

The brand has championed Malaysian arts, culture and heritage activities through numerous award-winning campaigns towards promoting active, healthy lifestyles, and bring communities closer.

The Antabax POWER campaign is its latest nationwide initiative. Aside from the Graffiti competition, the campaign also includes the Juara POWER Antabax schoolyard games.

Mr Francis Ng, Senior General Manager, Household & Personal Care Department, Marketing Division, Lam Soon Edible Oils Sdn Bhd said: “The Antabax POWER campaign celebrates what makes Malaysia a unique nation through the spirit and power of its people. The interpretation of what makes Malaysia potent may differ but the underlying feeling and power is there.”

He also introduced the Juara POWER Antabax schoolyard games as a means of preserving the heritage of play, and of introducing the younger generation to the games their parents were champions at.

Antabax understands that our Malaysian heritage includes games such as Oh Som, Lat Tali Lat, Five Stones, Chap Teh, Bottle Caps, Zero Point, and even the eraser fights we used to engage in during classes. We felt that reintroducing these games would help to tear kids and teens away from their mobile devices, creating moments of family bonding, for healthy, active lifestyle,” he added.

Mouse mommy and MR also take part in the schoolyard games. Special moments for us as in MR never play this kind of schoolyard games before. Mouse mommy also feeling lucky as in HotFM brother teaches us the proper way to play Ceper.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa, Director General of National Art Gallery, said: “Events such as these are very much in keeping with the National Art Gallery’s objective of making art, culture and heritage an integral part of daily Malaysian life. We need to teach our population to appreciate and value art from young. We find that public-private collaborations such as this one with Antabax helps in amplifying awareness and creating interest in art forms such as graffiti and in the games of our childhood.

“Which is why we are extremely pleased when Antabax proposed to collaborate with us on the Antabax Graffiti Competition 2017, because such initiatives are seen as a crucial platform for our local graffiti artists to become entrepreneurs, where they are able to generate a steady form of income and be financially independent.”

More than 2,000 people attended the Antabax POWER Graffiti Live Battle the Juara POWER Antabax games. Guests who completed the series of eight childhood games of batu seremban (five stones), teng teng (hopscotch), lawan pemadam (eraser fight), lompat getah (jumping rope), pick up sticks, chapteh and gom bia, received full-sized Antabax products, while all guests received goodie bags.

Get Sufficient Macro And Micro Nutrients To Start Up My Day With Dutch Lady PureFarm Milk!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it is the first meal we eat after 8 to 12 hours from our last meal. Depriving our bodies of nutrients for as long as 12 hours means our brain lacks energy when we wake up. Our metabolism also needs food to kick-start itself into action.

Ashlee Ng, Marketing Director of Dutch Lady Malaysia highlighted the importance for Malaysian families to get sufficient essential nutrients from daily breakfast to help them start the day strong.

“As such, the breakfast we consume needs to provide sufficient essential nutrients to help us meet our daily nutrient intake as recommended by the Ministry of Health. It also needs to provide a balance of macro and micronutrients, including carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals,” she added.

Are Malaysians’ favourite breakfasts providing sufficient nutrients for the nation? This was the pertinent question Dutch Lady PureFarm, Malaysia’s no. 1 milk1 attempted to answer at its breakfast campaign launch this morning, following a feast of Malaysian breakfast favourites including nasilemak and mee goreng.

Professor Dr. Poh Bee Koon of Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, who led the SEANUTS Malaysia survey also reported that a third of Malaysian children do not consume breakfast on a daily basis,2 which makes it all the more important that breakfast foods are selected wisely. Her team analysed seven popular breakfasts to see if they provide sufficient amounts of energy, protein, vitamins A, B2 and D, and calcium to meet 20 to 25%3 of recommended energy and nutrient intake for both adults and children.

According to Professor Poh, the study took cues from MyBreakfast Study of School Children4 to identify the most commonly consumed foods in the morning amongst Malaysian children, and the ingredients and portions of the breakfasts analysed were according to the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines. The seven commonly consumed Malaysian breakfasts analysed were nasi lemak, mee goreng, nasi goreng, roti canai, roti telur or French toast, sardines sandwich, and a combination of curry puff and two kuih.

“Analysis of these common Malaysian breakfasts shows they do not supply enough essential nutrients to meet 20 to 25% of daily recommended nutrient intake (RNI) for both adults and children. For adults, these breakfasts fall short of protein, vitamin D, calcium and energy which is important to help them start their day; and for children, they are lacking in vitamin D and calcium, which are essential for healthy bone growth and development” remarked Prof. Poh.

The low levels of vitamin D and calcium is also reflected in two surveys that shows Malaysian adults and children are lacking these nutrients in their food intake. According to the South East Asian Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS), nearly 50% of children in Malaysia does not meet calcium and vitamin D needs;5 and the Malaysian Adults Nutritional Survey 2014 indicates adults’ intake of major micronutrients such as calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, is less than two-thirds of the RNI by the Ministry of Health.6 More worrying is the findings from the SEANUTS survey which showed that Malaysian children drink on average only half a serving of milk a day, and that only a mere 5% of children actually meets the recommended 2 servings of milk daily, which could have helped them meet calcium and vitamin D needs.7

However, when these breakfasts were consumed together with a 250ml serving of Dutch Lady PureFarm milk, the ideal 20 – 25% of daily nutrition intake could easily be met. Energy and all vitamins and mineral measured (vitamins A, B2, D and calcium) met the 20 – 25% daily RNI for adults and children.

Ng mentions that As Malaysians, usually take nasi lemak, mee goreng and nasi goreng, especially in the morning. However, these breakfast choices are not providing us with enough macro and micro nutrients to start the day strong. To help Malaysian families meet their recommended nutrient intake for breakfasts, we are advocating to add a glass of Dutch Lady PureFarm milk every morning! The best part is Dutch Lady PureFarm milk comes in convenient packages that are ideal for hustling mornings. Dutch Lady PureFarm milk also come in three flavours which is original (Full cream or Low fat), strawberry and chocolate.

Dutch Lady PureFarm milk contains the following essential nutrients to help give Malaysian families a strong start every morning such as Protein helps to build and repair tissue8 so that our muscles work in good condition; Vitamin A allows our eyes to function properly9 and helps us stay focused and alert, both at school and at work; Vitamin B2 supports the release of energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins10; Vitamin D aids the absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus;11 and Calcium is the key for the growth and development of strong bones and teeth for children, 12 and helps adults maintain a healthy bone mass13 for an active lifestyle.

Drink a glass of Dutch Lady PureFarm milk together with our family’s breakfast and we will be ready to take on the day - one glass in the morning every day for a strong start!
